ChatGPT, How To Write Good Prompts

ChatGPT, How To Write Good Prompts

In order to get the most value from ChatGPT and other similar AI models, you need to know how to write great prompts. This makes your content stand out, and become highly unique, such that people want to read it and share it, resulting in great SEO and engagement. The recipe for writing great prompts is quite easy, below you can find some of our research related to this.

Start with an action word

An action word is basically you telling what the model should do. For example: create, list, make, generate etc. By using these words first, you’ll often end up with much better results than writing: “can you…” As an AI language model, ChatGPT is designed to assist users with their queries and generate responses that are as accurate and helpful as possible.

By starting your query with an action word, you are providing a clear instruction to the model on what you want it to do. This helps ChatGPT to better understand your intent and provide a more relevant response.

Additionally, using action words can also help to make your query more concise and easier to understand, which can improve the overall quality of the conversation. So, whether you want to create a list, generate an idea, or make a calculation, starting with an action word can help ChatGPT to provide you with the information you need. Below are some examples.

  • List all presidents of the US
  • Create an article about ChatGPT with 5 paragraphs

Use clear and concise wording

Writing prompts in clear and concise wording is the most important tip I have for you today. It’s important that you don’t over complicate what you want the model to do. For example: “a hat” - W-hat? (No pun intended)

Okay a hat could be anything. A cowboy hat? A cap? If you don’t write concise and clear what you want, you might end up with something you don’t want. Instead, you’ll want to write something like: “a blue fedora” or “a backwards facing green cap”. This way you’ll get something much more likely to fit your needs. When crafting your prompt, it's important to be specific about what you want, while also avoiding overly complicated language or unnecessary details.

Provide context

To get the best results from ChatGPT, you need to start off with telling it what it is. For example: “you are a sales executive…” And how to act: “…you will try to sell me a product…” And what to sell “…the product is a newspaper…” And to who: “…to old single women.”

While it is true that providing specific details and instructions can help ChatGPT to generate more accurate and relevant responses, it is important to keep in mind that AI language models like ChatGPT are designed to be flexible and adaptable to a wide range of inputs and scenarios.

Of course, there are other ways to get what you want, but this recipe is the simplest when generating text. Below are some examples.

  • You are a sales executive selling luxury shoes to women
  • You are the CEO of a company producing computer chips

Use references

If you want the model to act a certain way, let it know how to act. For example, when using DALL-E or Microsoft Designer, tell it “paint like Edward Munch” or “… in the style of pop art”. References are also great to use when using ChatGPT to mimic a celebrity, or a well-known person, to make it write as if it were them. One example we have created ourselves is our Donald Trump chatbot that answers questions as if it was Donald Trump.

Use “double quotes”

Using double quotes in chat refers to using quotation marks around a specific phrase or set of words when conducting a search on Bing Search or other AI search engines. This technique is also known as a phrase search and can help narrow down search results to only show pages that contain that exact phrase in the order it is written. Using double quotes in chat can be a very effective way to conduct a search when you are looking for a specific phrase or exact match. By enclosing a phrase or set of words in double quotes, you are telling the search engine to only return results that contain that exact sequence of words in that specific order.

Furthermore, both ChatGPT and Our AI Expert System offer unique benefits and advantages, including personalized and customized responses, vast databases of knowledge, and user-friendly interfaces. By leveraging the power of AI technology, you can access insights, generate content, and explore new ideas and conversations faster and more efficiently than ever before.
