Generative-AI, an SEO Machine

Generative-AI, an SEO Machine

Used correctly, generative AI can become an SEO machine. This is because of its ability to repackage existing content to produce new high quality content. However, it doesn't work to simply generate thousands of articles. To truly master the technique you need to also apply social engineering and network effects - In addition to providing new information to Google.

Network effects defined

Network effects is when your users helps you sell. A great example is Facebook. When Facebook was launched, its initial userbase would often ask their friends if they were on it. If their friends didn't know what Facebook was, they would ask, at which point their existing users would happily inform their friends what Facebook was, and encourage their friends to create an account and connect with them there. The result was that existing users would be the primary advocates for making sure new users registered an account and started using Facebook.

This is called network effects, because it helps "sell" the service by relying upon the networks of its existing users. Leveraging similar effects with generative AI solutions is quite easy once you know how.

From a marketing perspective this is the holy grail of marketing, because it requires minimum initial input to generate maximum output. Hence the "cold fusion" analogy to describe it.

Generative AI for articles

A great generative AI chatbot or agent, such as ours, can easily search for and scrape websites, extract data from your database, consume APIs, and use the information extracted as the foundation for new content. By prompting the AI you can also apply an edge, or move the content into some alternative direction. This allows you to take any existing article, scrape it, recycle it through an LLM, and produce new high quality content based upon the content from the existing article.

The end result becomes high quality content, completely unique in nature, without having it perceived as duplicate content by search engines. This allows you to literally generate thousands of new articles every week, making search engines thinking you're an "authority" on whatever subject you choose to generate articles about.

New Data

However, the above doesn't work in isolation. You have to add new information to the content for it to be recognised by the search engine as an "authority". This is because search engines loves new content. Or to put it with Google's own words by repeating their mission statement.

Google's mission is to organise the world's information

Which implies that if you can provide new information to Google it previously didn't have access to, Google's algorithms will feel "compelled" to making your content rank high, because it provides their users with new information. The result becomes that you end up scoring very high for "long tail search queries". Long tail search queries are basically exactly what they sound like; They're loooong, but they're also 80% of what people search for.

Generative AI + Network Effects = Success!

We just installed our AI Expert System with a twist; We allow for generating a "permalink" to the conversation our users have with it. You can try it out for yourself below, or see an example of such a permalink.

The point being that it's a tool for your users to share conversations they're having with your AI. This allows your users to share their conversations in social media with others, either as comments to correct others, or as a tool to summarise news and content they've produced themselves with the system.

This creates network effects by playing upon "social gamification constructs", where your user's "need" to share their work, and analyse resources to find answers to questions, results in your users sharing the content they are producing on their own profiles in online debates and on social media websites.

This again helps build SEO, and ensures that your existing users serves as your primary means to bring new users into your system. From an SEO perspective, it's the equivalent of cold fusion - Because there's zero work required besides acquiring an initial userbase that's above average motivated, choosing to share their conversations.

Since Google and other search engines will "score" your content and move it higher up depending upon how many of your users are sharing pages from your site, this can at least in theory result in a "windmill" effect, where one user gets two new users. These two users get 4 new users. These 4 users gets you 8 new users. And so on. After 33 iterations of such a "windmill" you've in theory reached 8 billion people.

An example

To understand what I mean you can follow the flow yourself below.

  1. Go to our AI Expert System
  2. Ask it to search for news related to some subject, such as for instance OpenAI news and create a summary
  3. Click the permalink button (dropdown on your profile icon)
  4. Click the open button and share the result on your Facebook or LinkedIn profile

Below are screenshots illustrating how I did it myself.

The point being that every now and then the result your users are getting from the AI is simply going to be so good that the person who had the conversation is going to feel compelled to sharing it online with his users. OpenAI and Anthropic are great examples of this themselves, since they allow for users to share their results by creating such permalinks to conversations.

Long Tail SERP + AI Agents = Niche Ownership!

One of our clients we did some work for needed an AI chatbot to analyse Swedish companies for investment opportunities. You can find his SaaS app here. The point about his system is that it's an AI-based expert system that knows everything that's publicly available about every single Swedish company that exists.

This is because it includes AI Agent features, combined with our AI Expert System, implemented as a White Label solution. The system allows you to search for any Swedish company, resulting in you getting their financial KPIs, details such as address and org. number, directors, etc. You can see a conversation I just had with his system below.

If you click the above hyperlink you will realise that it's very high quality information, because of the integration we created allowing the AI to search through an internal database containing all the company information. This implies that Google and other search engines will want it because it allows for correctly answer questions such as for instance.

  • "Give me Spotify's revenue the last 5 years"
  • "Who is Spotify's top director?"
  • "When was Spotify created?"
  • "How much debt does Spotify have?"
  • Etc ...

So search engines will typically love the content it produces, because it gives rapid access to key information important for people using Google to search for such information. So for a search engine, content such as the above link to Spotify's financial information will be considered a "gold mine" for them. At the same time it's not in any ways a threat to Google's existing business plan since the site doesn't show ads not delivered by Google.

In fact, showing ads is not even required to make revenue here, since the primary goal of the system is to serve as an AI Agent SaaS company, charging its users a monthly subscription for access. This allows you to go under the radar, and leverage SEO and your existing userbase to generate a windmill effect for SEO, resulting in you becoming the authority on whatever subject you happen to have information about.

Alternative business models

Notice, if you want to, you could of course also provide the service free of charge, become a Google partner, resulting in Google giving you 70% of their revenue from ads served from your website. But I'm not sure you'd be able to make money of that due to that you'd have to pay OpenAI API tokens for users asking questions simply using your AI agent as an AI agent, and never choosing to share content they create.

Wrapping up

The above is an explanation of how we can deliver our AI Expert System, having it serve as an SEO machine, based upon your existing data and your existing userbase - Resulting in network effects through social gamification. If you've got access to data you want to use as your foundation to your own AI Agent SaaS company, we'd love to hear from you and help you delivering something similar for you. Prices starts at $298 per month.

Notice, traditional SEO takes 18 months to build. I suspect with a system such as ours, you might be able to cut that time in half. But still, you should not expect to see dramatic results before at least some 3 to 6 months because of such a system - So this is for those willing to play the looong game.
