Magic Cloud, the Open Source Alternative to Firebase

If you're an experienced software developer you probably realise I stole the above slogan from Supabase. 2 months ago Supabase used to be "the open source alternative to Firebase". After the last Firebase update a month ago, Supabase simply cannot compete anymore. Firebase has AI code generators, and the whole shebang - Something Supabase isn't even close to delivering. AINIRO on the other hand isn't only able to deliver, but also outperform Firebase!

Watch me generate an entire web API using nothing but natural language, Google Search (AI Agent integrations), and the AI's ability to generate not only code, but even OpenAPI specifications by doing a DuckDuckGo search for documentation and scraping a system's documentation to generate OpenAPI specifications ...

Of course, Supabase is probably half a decade away from being able to deliver something similar, and they've probably gone through most of their current funding subsidising startups to create network effects - While they're probably now seeing 90% of their user base move to Firebase, because of its AI code generators.

Considering that 90% of all YCombinator startups are probably vibe coding these days, and Supabase's largest selling point used to be that 33% of all YC startups were using Supabase, I suspect Supabase will simply vanish over the next couple of years. If you're a YC startup these days, and you want to "build in a weekend and scale to millions", you've basically got two choices.

At AINIRO we've had "Where the Machine Creates the Code" as our slogan for years - Even before AI code generators were around. This was always possible because of our focus on meta programming, homoiconistic programming languages, and meta programming constructs - While Supabase was focusing on PostgREST and GraphQL - Both technologies to some extent about to become obsolete because of AI code generators and meta programming ideas. While at AINIRO we're thriving as never before, and more and more clients are contacting us - Even though our marketing budget is literally ZERO!

Not only that, but AINIRO is profitable, making profits every single month, and have been doing so for years! This of course is because AINIRO isn't a "real company", it's just me! Period! Sure, sometimes I'll pay for sub-contractors to do some job for me, and consultants to help me out, but there's one employee in AINIRO, and that's me!

Ohh yeah, and Magic is open source too 😎

Supabase

Supabase did everything right. They got close to YC and took VC money, got hundreds of millions of dollars in VC rounds, hired a lot of skilled junior developers, and arguably "did everything right". Still, I suspect they're now probably going bankrupt over the next 6 to 12 months - They simply can't keep up, and they've probably spent most of their runway - So when their bank accounts are empty, they've got no other choice but to throw in the towel ...

You see today it's not about "doing things right", it's about "doing the right thing". AINIRO is a healthy sustainable company, and God knows I've taken a lot of heat for refusing to accept VC money and "grow faster". Supabase though "did things right", while forgetting it's about "doing the right things" ...

While Supabase might not be another Builder AI, I suspect they're probably going the same direction. With AI code generators, there's simply nothing there for them - Unless they're about to spend their last 100 million dollars on bribing Indian junior developers to "generate code" while pretending it's an AI code generator (this was what Builder AI literally did!)

But, they did one thing right - They created their code as open source, so at least once they go belly up, you can emergency fork their code, and run it on your own servers, until you can get to replace your software with Magic Cloud, and have a working solution with AI code generators horizontally integrated into the entire product. Credits where credits are due, and credits are given to Supabase for open source licensing their stuff ...

And if they somehow magically should be able to actually produce an AI code generator, well, too late, too little - Devs have cursor AI, manus AI, Magic Cloud AI, and probably half a bajillion additional tools - While Supabase can't even deliver a "documentation generator". At this point I'd like to say something out loud that I've been wanting to say for 3/4 years which is ...
