AI Chatbot Engagement Numbers

AI Chatbot Engagement Numbers

You finally have an AI chatbot on your website. A brand new AI sales executive, ready to convert visitors into paying clients. The only remaining question is how to increase engagement with it, because without engagement your AI chatbot is really nothing but a fancy button. Since an interaction can increase the probability of conversion by 338% according to our research, you obviously want as many users as possible to interact with your chatbot. You can see how revenue increased at Club de Mode when we installed our AI chatbot on their site below.

Our numbers

The last 7 days 10.9% of all website visitors at our website interacted with our AI chatbot. This is of course way above the industry average of 1 to 4 percent, but obviously visitors at our website are probably actively looking for an AI chatbot, and therefore above average interested in testing our chatbot for obvious reasons.

However, we're spending zero money on advertising, exclusively using organic marketing to market our services. Still, we've had 5 new customers so far in December, and it's only the 10th of December so far - So obviously our chatbot is doing quite well at converting website visitors into paying clients.

How to Increase Engagement

If you refresh this page, you will notice that 5 seconds after the page loads a greeting is shown, encouraging users to interact with the chatbot. This simple trick almost doubled our engagement. In addition the AI chatbot is subtly animating, pulsating its colours and showing a chat icon every 4 seconds. This moves the attention of the user towards the chatbot, and makes users aware of that they can chat with your website.

In addition our AI chatbot has conversation starters. These are particularly well suited for visitors coming in through their phones, where typing long sentences is typically more challenging. This allows users to use the conversation starters as a "browsing foundation" for getting information from the AI chatbot, and initiating a discussion with it. If you click the AI chatbot on this page, you can see these conversation starters animating into view after it's initialised.

Our AI chatbots also have follow up questions, which are suggestions to questions the user can ask to continue the conversation. This allows for a fluent AI chatbot experience, significantly reducing the pain of interactions. Simple tricks such as these can significantly increase engagement.

In addition we've got the ability to trigger the AI chatbot with "trigger links". You can try one of these below.

Increased Quality Leads to Increased Engagement

Unfortunately, most AI chatbots are, in lack of a better word, a hot smoking pile of garbage. When ChatGPT went viral a couple of years ago, everybody with a 3rd cousin having some Python and JavaScript knowledge believed they would become rich by creating an AI chatbot SaaS company. So thousands of such companies popped up like mushrooms in the forrest. In fact, I don't think I've got a single entrepreneur friend who did not create an AI chatbot SaaS company. This is of course not sustainable, and 99.9% of these AI chatbot SaaS companies are destined to go belly up after some time. However, the quality of most of these AI chatbots are "inferior" to put it mildly.

If you want visitors to engage with your AI chatbot, you need to make sure it's a high quality chatbot

If you've already used some existing AI chatbot for a while, you've probably acquired knowledge about its quality and engagement rate. If your engagement rate is crap, chances are it's probably because of your chatbot's quality. Switch AI chatbot vendor, chose some vendor with higher quality, and watch your engagement rate increase.

As you switch vendor, make sure to measure its impact on SEO, page load speed, if it's responsive or not, and if it blends in with your existing user experience. Believe me, not all AI chatbots are created as "equals".

Make your AI Chatbot become a Destination

If you're in the real estate business, there's tons of extra information you can ingest into your chatbot, such as how to get a mortgage, what's the legal requirements for purchasing a property, etc. Ingesting this into your AI chatbot as RAG data, allows you to create a "destination" for information related to your vertical.

This implies users might be visiting your site to get access to this extra information, allowing you to leverage your chatbot's ability to answer general questions about your vertical, to sell them on your services. Below is a screenshot from one of our clients.

There's no Shame in Switching Horse

If your existing AI chatbot is crap, there's no shame in switching. 17% of all AI chatbot users will switch chatbots per year, implying you're not alone. If you're worried about costs associated with switching, I can pretty much guarantee you that it's much more costly to keep a bad product than to switch.

When you switch, ask any potential new vendors about how many of their users are moving away on average per year. For us the figures are less than 8%, implying we're outperforming the industry average by 200%. This should give you clarification in regards to quality, service, and how happy our existing clients are about our product.

Wrapping up

If you're not happy with your AI chatbot's engagement numbers, ask your existing vendor for help. If they cannot help you, there's no shame in switching provider. At AINIRO we look at each delivery as a "project". We try our best to understand your business, and we spend a lot of energy trying to give you an AI chatbot that serves your business optimally.

As you change provider, it's crucial you do your research. What's the AI chatbot's effect on your SEO initiatives? What's its bandwidth usage? Can it display product images or screenshots? Can it escalate a conversation to a human being? Can it integrate with your existing systems? Etc, etc, etc.

Only when you've got the answers to the above questions, you're ready to make the switch. But please don't rush it. You're considering changing vendor because your rushed it in the first place. If you don't rush it this time, maybe you don't need to switch again a year down the road. Switching AI chatbot provider is expensive. It requires parts of your resources to help QA test and provide feedback to the team implementing your chatbot, and such things are not free of charge. So the next time you switch AI chatbot provider, make sure it's somebody you are happy with, and that you can keep for years to come.
