Why I cannot trust Google with AI
We've all read about how Google's Gemini were willing to start nuclear war instead of misgendering non-binaries, and how it claims that Nazis were black people. But did you know that it now wants you to add glue to your pizza?
I wish this was a joke, but unfortunately it's not ... 😕
Google's Corporate Suicide
Everybody knows what I think of Google. After having thrown $15,000 at Google Ads and getting 5 clients for it, I've got the same relationship to Google as most others have to STDs. However, my argument is that so should you. The latest Google AI scandale now involves adding glue to your cheese to make it stick to your pizza. For the record, there's no joke coming, check out the following screenshot if you have a hard time believing me.
Be Evil
Google seems to be obsessed with committing "corporate suicide". However, now that I think about it, I shouldn't have written that. For all I know, their AI might read this article and take it literally, and do its best to destroy the company - If it is possible to even do a better job at that then what the Google execs are already doing ...
Google, a Reddit Troll?
Some guy was actually able to find the source for the above information, and it was a 9 years old Reddit comment that suggested gluing your cheese to your pizza to make the cheese stick. Obviously this was a joke. However, after having spent two decades consistently misinterpreting jokes, Gemini was for obvious reasons not able to understand that simple fact 🤪
About 6 months ago Google struck a deal with Reddit, paying them mountains of money, to give Google access to scrape the site. As a consequence, Reddit's traffic increased one order of magnitude over night, simply because a part of the deal was that Google would refer more traffic to Reddit.
I don't know how you feel about this, but personally I feel that "the emperor of knowledge" now having started sending most of its search query based traffic to arguably the biggest trolling site on the planet (read; Reddit) is kind of a big deal. The fact that they're now also apparently teaching their AI systems on Reddit is also kind of a big deal.
I don't know about you, but I feel very uncomfortable with having our children growing up with an AI that was trained by Reddit's trolls and Google lack of intelligence. Please Google, stick to Search, or even better, crawl off and die somewhere, will you ...?
